Profile Tina Gage
I was born in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire and grew up in Hertfordshire where I went to Grammar School. After leaving school I lived for some time in Majorca before moving back to Wimbledon for two years and then Birmingham and, finally, settling in Sheffield in 1991.
Since moving to Sheffield with my husband’s job I have always tried to become involved with the community. Whilst living in Dronfield in 1991 I returned to further education and qualified as a fitness instructor and opened my own gym which I built up from scratch to a thriving business and some three years later sold to my business partner.
With my husband we purchased the Angel Inn at Holmesfield and built it up into a very busy gastro pub which we sold in 2002. I then moved to Dore with my two sons and took over the Devonshire Arms which I built up into a very busy pub and a hub for a variety of community activities. During this time I also owned the Dore Cafe on High Street.
I still live in Dore and believe very strongly in the community spirit that exists here. I can’t think of a better place to have brought up my sons, and now my two granddaughters also enjoy the benefits of living in a village community.
I can’t think of a more powerful reason to remain involved in working hard to keep the village community alive and doing the best for everyone that is lucky enough to enjoy the village life.
