Profile - Alex Howe

Originally from a village near Stamford in Lincolnshire, I have lived in many parts of the country but have been settled in Dore for the last 10 years. As my husband’s family are originally from Sheffield we moved to Dore in 2008.

Following a degree at Cambridge in 2005, I worked in Experiential Marketing, working on live music events for brands in London for four years.

I am a marketing manager at a bustling inter-disciplinary design firm in the heart of Sheffield and am also a busy mother of two young children who keep me on my toes when I am not at work!

I have been a member of a few choral groups and love to play tennis, swim, play the piano and read in my spare time (which is currently a bit scarce due to the children).

I am really keen to get involved in the community activities in Dore and have been really pleased and excited by the amount of wonderful opportunities and groups that are available to us in the village. As a (relatively) new member of the village I have been made to feel really welcome by groups such as the Dore Gilbert and Sullivan Society, Dore Belles, Tea, Talk and Tunes for Toddlers on Monday mornings and the Christ Church Dore Baby and Toddler Group on a Thursday (which were a godsend as a new mum!). As the children move from pre-school to ‘big’ school I am looking to the future and feel honoured to become a committee member of a society that aims to help to serve the interests of all the residents of Dore.

My aim is to help to create more opportunities in the village and enhance those that already exist, and I hope to do just that during my time here.
