1 September - Following rejection of their application to built 106 houses and flats on the old Mercia site at King Ecgberts' school, it is understood Persimmon Homes will be appealing against the decision to the Secretary of State.

23 March - Supporters of “Friends of Graves Park” are up in arms over proposals being considered by Sheffield Council to allow St Luke’s Hospice to relocate onto land previously occupied by council nurseries in a corner of the park. The park was gifted to the people of Sheffield not the council and earlier plans by the council to sell this section for housing were overruled by the Charity Commission.
22 March - Anderson Tree Services will be carrying out tree works in Busheywood - on behalf of the Council, either during week commencing 26/03, or the week after. Besides remedial works, and planting of one new tree at the rear of 67 Devonshire Road, they will deadwood any trees beside the footpath and chip larger piles of brash, spreading the material on the woodland floor. The removal of fly-tipping is being done separately, also before the end of March
21 March - According to the latest information, Sheffield is the second worse authority for fly tipping in the country.
20 March - Last year Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust raised £1.66 million from parking fees on its sites, the fifth highest amount in the country.
19 March - One third of new homes should not have received planning permission, according to the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment. It believes that only 18 per cent of houses built recently measure up to design standards.
18 March - A crackdown on roadside billboards that blight the countryside and distract drivers has been announced by the government. Local planners will be able to track offenders who allow lorry trailers festooned with advertisements to park in fields next to motorways and other main roads, moving the trailers when challenged.
17 March - The Antiques Roadshow comes to Sheffield on Thursday May 10th at the City Hall from 9.30am to 4.30pm. 14 March - Objections have been lodged by the Society to a retrospective planning application for the garage being built at the bottom of Dore Road which is felt to be out of scale and keeping with the immediate environment .
12 March - Private Finance Initiative (PFI) deals are wasting millions of pounds of taxpayers' money according to the National Audit Office. The spending watchdog said that many contracts to build schools and hospitals are uncompetitive and involve only one bidder. The situation has worsened since its last report four years ago.
9 March - Watermark, the contractor laying new sewage pipes on Dore Road, have agreed to restore the damage done by diverted vehicles to the village green and verges on Vicarage Lane.
5 March - Councillors are getting older. The average age for councillors in England rose from 55.4 in 1997 to 58.3 last year. While 18.4 per cent of councillors in 1997 were under 45, this dropped to 13.5 per cent in 2006.
1 March - South Yorkshire Police are mounting a month-long crackdown on motorists who continue to use their mobile phones while driving. They will use marked and unmarked vehicles to enforce the new legislation, which brings an increased fine of £60 and the possibility of points on the offender's licence. Last year 4,149 motorists across the county were fined for illegally using their mobile phone.

23 February - Looking good - the number of cosmetic surgery procedures in the UK has increased by 240% over the last five years.
19 February - Dore Road is now closed to through traffic while sewage work is carried out on behalf of Yorkshire Water.
9 February - Sheffield is putting the finishing touches to its 2007/8 budget, involving a 3.9 per cent rise in council tax.
7 February - Nearly half of drivers continue to break the law by using their mobile phone while behind the wheel, according to a poll by Whatcar.com.
6 February - Large four-wheel-drive vehicles are twice as likely as other cars to roll over in crashes because of their higher centre of gravity, a Transport Research Laboratory study has found. Their occupants are also more likely to be killed or injured if they hit a roadside safety barrier.
3 February - Rents for council houses in Sheffield are due to go up by 5 per cent this year, equivalent to an average of £2.48 per week.
2 February - The Lord Mayor of Sheffield Cllr Jackie Drayton officially launched the Freeman College’s Woodland Project in the heart of Ecclesall Woods. The college students who have a range of disabilities and special needs will now be able to work under cover and have the benefit of compost toilets and log burning stoves.
31 January - A South West Area Panel Roadshow at the Old School allowed residents to meet and talk to representatives of a number of council departments and local voluntary organisations.
29 January - A new 50 mph speed limit comes into force on the A57 Snake Pass between Ladybower and Glossop in an attempt to improve safety. There have been 97 accidents involving injury, 20 classed as serious and three fatal, over the last three years.
23 January - The UK has the highest proportion (69%) of land devoted to agricultural use in the EU bar Austria (80%). If you include common land, the UK figure rises to 77%.
19 January - In December 2005 there were 26,207,656 cars registered with the Driver & Vehicle Licensing Agency!
15 January - Britain is only now catching on most of our European neighbours by describing properties by their square footage and not simply by bedroom count. 11 January - In an initiative intended to encourage car-sharing, the Department for Transport has published guidance for local authorities on how to introduce arrangements allowing motorists carrying at least one passenger to be allowed to drive in underused bus lanes.
10 January - Amateur genealogists trying to trace a family tree where a descendant may have left Britain for a life abroad, can now search a database at ancestorspnboard.com of more than 30 million ship passengers who left British ports after the 1890s.
8 January - Local barber/poet Don Allott has brought out his second book of poems ‘More Voices and Verses’ which includes many nostalgic musings on old Sheffield. Half the proceeds will go to Sheffield Children's Hospital and the rest to local charities. The book costs £2.95 and is available from Patricia Barber's hairdressers on Wollaton Road Bradway.
5 January - House prices in Sheffield went up by an average of £44 a day last year, according to a survey by Nationwide. The overall rate of increase for the past 12 months was 10%, taking the city's average price to £178,631 and placing Sheffield fifth in a table of house price growth for major UK towns and cities.

22 December - Since April, the South Yorkshire Police helicopter has been used in the arrest of 300 suspects, the seizing of £2m of drugs, the discovery of 20 missing people and taking three people to hospital.
20 December - A probe has just been launched to search for other inhabitable planets. In view of the damage we have caused to our own planet wouldn't it be better if we left others alone?
18 December - Proposals for a 60ft high wind turbine at Fem Glen Farm, adjacent to Hathersage Road, have been deferred by councillors pending more information on noise generation and the environmental impact on such a sensitive location.
13 December - From January 2007, King Ecgbert School in Dore is offering the internationally recognised European Computer Driving Licence qualification (ECDL) in Microsoft Office 2003 as part of it’s commitment to provide training for the community. 15 December - Local residents are up in arms over the loss of trees and hedges along Ashfurlong Road as part of the development on the site of the former Blue Ridge house. The site was covered by a Tree Protection Order and it is thought that a tree and a hedgerow have been removed without authorisation.
1 December - Overnight, and without local consultation, notices sprang up in the village announcing proposed traffic restrictions on some local roads!
30 November - The average earnings of GPs increased by more than 30% in 2004-5 thanks to their new contract, taking them to £102,388 pa!

15 November- Whirlow Hall Farm Trust was successful in The Peoples Millions competition yesterday. Thanks to you they did get the most votes and we will now get £50,000 to build an all weather activity area, wildlife garden and disabled access path.
2 November - Sheffield Wildlife Trust and Friends of Burngreave Cemetery will be holding a Blues evening on Friday 17th November. It is being held at Sheffield Companions Club on Barnsley Road as part of the Trust's 21st birthday celebrations, and features the Robin Hoare Band. Doors open at 8pm. 1 November - After months of effort the Dore Village Society took delivery today from the USA of a ‘Pearson’ grandfather clock made in the village during the 1750s.
31 October - The top section of Savage Lane has been made the subject of a temporary traffic order, enabling the closure of the road for up to 18 months from the 6th November, to allow work to take place to deal with flooding problems.

12 October - Councillors will be advised by officers on Monday to refuse planning permission for the latest submission from Persimmon to build on the former King Ecgbert School site off Furniss Avenue.
11 October - £24 Million of savings are planned over the next three years by the council, needed to pave the way for the massive private finance deal to repair the city’s roads.
10 October - House prices in the Sheffield region have risen by 7% in the last year according to the Land Registry, putting the average price of a detached house in Sheffield at more than £240,000.
9 October - Sheffield Wildlife Trust is hoping to make sponsorship forms a thing of the past with the launch of its own area on www.justgiving.com/wildsheffield The site allows supporters of the charity to donate money instantly and safely online and automatically adds on the gift aid that all charities are entitled to.

October 2 - A law (the Natural Environment and Rural communities Act 2006) aimed at stopping motorcycles and 4x4 vehicles using footpaths and bridleways in national parks in England came into force today.
October 2 - Local authorities now have increased powers to deal with noise from licensed premises between llpm and 7am. Pub landlords who fail to keep late-night drinkers quiet can now face on-the-spot fines of £500 if they fail to heed warnings about excessive noise.
October 2 - Natural England, officially comes into being - taking over from the landscape, access and recreation arm of the Countryside Agency, English Nature, and the Rural Development Service.
October 1 - Cycling enthusiasts will today rededicate a Rowan Tree that was planted on Blackamoor 28 years ago to mark the centenary of the local Cycle Touring Club.

September 29 - environmental campaigners and local residents are opposing the scheme to build 50 houses on the previous site of Ringinglow Fire Station arguing that this is overdevelopment on a site bordering the green belt.
September 23 - A reunion of past pupils from Dore Old School in the building, along with an exhibition of photographs and recorded memories, was well attended today, with many old acquaintances renewed.
September 15 - Two people have been found guilty of damaging trees in Bushey Wood, to the rear of 67 Devonshire Road, despite these being protected by a Tree Preservation Order. The tree works involved the severe and unskilful lopping of two large oak trees and the felling of another large oak tree that was determined to have been over 100 years old. Ms Amanda Taylor and Mr Shaun Thomas of Dobcroft Road, were found guilty of two offences under Section 210 of the Town and Country Planning Act, 1990. They were given a 12-month conditional discharge by Sheffield Magistrates, but the Council was awarded costs amounting to £1,000, of which £600 will be allocated to compensatory tree works.
September 11 - The County Garden fruit and vegetable shop on the corner of Townhead Road and the High Street has new owners. Business partners Ben Laverick and Andrew Hebblethwaite, who both have considerable experience in the trade, are looking forward to welcoming customers old and new.

September 7th - Dore Show takes place this Saturday the 9th from 2pm to 4.30pm. There are 77 different classes to enter or view and a brass band and folk dancing group to entertain you.
September 6th - Whirlow Hall Farm will be open to the public on Sunday afternoons from this weekend, 10th September. Visitors will be given the chance to have a tour of the ‘Piggy Palace’, see the chickens and the fancy breeds in the poultry unit and meet all of the other animals in the animal handling unit. The farm will be open to visitors each Sunday between 11.30am and 4pm.
September 4th -The law regarding children and car seats changes on September 18th. From then all children must use a child seat, or booster seat, until their 12th birthday, or when they reach 135crn (4ft Sin) in height. Taxis and emergency trips will be exempt. Other changes to the law include children under 3 not being allowed to travel without an appropriate seat, in the front or the back of the car, and it is now illegal to use a rear-facing baby seat in a front seat that is fitted with an airbag. Drivers face a fine of £30 for not complying with the regulations.
September 3rd - Now in its 4th year, the South Yorkshire Wood Fair will take place at Endcliffe Park on September 30th. Organised by the South Yorkshire Forest Partnership and Sheffield City Council, the free event promises to be bigger and better than ever with displays, demonstrations, activities and entertainments for all the family.
September 2nd - In the interests of pedestrian safety, the top end of Savage Lane, between Vicarage Lane and the High Street, will be closed to vehicular traffic from 1.30pm to 5pm during the Dore Show on the 9th September.
September 1st - Around 10.15pm in the evening, a resident of Townhead Road was attacked by a group of youths outside his house and was sufficiently injured to need hospital treatment.
September 1st - Yet another serious accident occurred this morning on Hathersage Road between Sheephill Road and Dore Moor Inn. The road was closed and one man had to be cut from the wreckage of his car before being airlifted to hospital.
August 26th - A large number of residents attended Dore Old School to see the plans submitted by Persimmon Homes for the former King Ecgbert School Mercia site. The meeting was organised jointly by the three Dore & Totley Ward councillors following widespread concern over what is viewed by many as sheer overdevelopment of the site.

Neighbourhood Watch: The next neighbourhood watch co-ordinators meeting will be at 7pm on Wednesday 20th September, meeting at Totley Rise Methodist Church Hall, Grove Road. The meeting is open to anyone interested in the Neighbourhood Watch Scheme.
29 July - The Government has given the go-ahead in principle far a £86 million programme of street lighting improvements in Sheffield under a Private Finance Initiative scheme, where the work is paid for by the private sector and then repaid over its lifespan by the council. 
27 July - There was excitement at the doctors surgery on Dore Road when an elderly patient lost control of a new automatic car and crashed into the corner of the building causing considerable damage but fortunately no injuries. This is the 4th such incident at the surgery.
26 July - A photograph of Ecclesall Woods showing a flooded stream at bluebell time has won the Gold Award for Tom Sanderson in the Lord Mayor's annual photography competition.
24 July - Sheffield's first vehicle-activated solar-powered sign warning drivers to observe the 30 mph limit is now in action on Ringinglow Road, sadly not Dore Road.
19 July - Two youths used a home-made launcher to fire a potato at a horse in a field off Old Hay Lane, causing the horse to bolt and sprain its back leg.
Monday 17th July - Residents of High Trees were woken at 6am this morning by a fire engine called to deal with a shed fire which generated a plume of black smoke. The fire may have been caused by a pile of grass cuttings against the shed catching fire, leading to the loss of the shed, some fencing and part of a tree.
Thursday 13th July - The next public meeting of the South West Area Panel will take place at Dore Primary School on the 19th July, starting at 7.30pm.
Sunday 9th July - More than 700 homes in Dore suffered a power cut for 2 ½ hours after a 6.55am explosion in Church Lane. It would seem an 11,000 volt underground electricity cable exploded following disturbance, blowing a big hole in the ground.

June 24th - Some 40 walkers joined the 11 mile Dore Boundary walk, a regular bi-annual event organised by the Dore Village Society. The circular walk around Dore was joined at various points by other less ambitious walkers, with the largest gathering for a picnic lunch on Burbage Moor where they were entertained by local historian Brian Edwards, who talked about some of the eccentric characters who have lived in the area in the past.
June 23rd - According to a new survey by TV licensing, Sheffield is the most welcoming city in the UK with some 29% of people who relocated to Sheffield last year saying their new neighbours made the effort to introduce themselves.
June 21st - Firefighters were called to Brinkburn Drive, Dore, to remove a training potty from the head of a two-year-old girl, who apparently thought it might make a better hat. Her parents asked for help after failing to remove it with baby oil.
June 19th - South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service are offering to complete a Free Home Fire Risk Assessment for all properties in our area and to fit free smoke alarms where necessary. These are essential but they are the sort of thing that very often gets put to one side. Just ring their hotline number 253 2314 to make an appointment.
12 June - Woodseats Road bridge (off Abbeydale Road) is due to be narrowed to a traffic light controlled single lane from the autumn, in order to protect the bridge from further deterioration
8 June - Street lights on sections of Dore Road are likely to be on continuously for 24 hrs a day following problems created by work by Yorkshire Electricity to replace link boxes all over Sheffield.
1st June - Nearly a third of 2.5million parents have so far failed to use government vouchers issued in order to open a Child Trust Fund savings account for their children.

23 May - A RAC survey has found that loud music played by car drivers is one of the most irritating neighbourhood noises. The amplified bass section of in-car music can also set off nearby car alarms, themselves a common source of irritating noise

22 May - There is now a temporary Traffic Regulation Order to prohibit for a maximum duration of 18 months commencing 21st May any person from causing or permitting any vehicle to proceed in that length of Brickhouse Lane from its junction with Hathersage Road to Dore Garden Centre. Works are expected to last approximately 4 weeks.
21st May - Concern has been expressed to local councillors about the condition of Dore Recreation Ground. The footpath across the rec is in a dreadful condition and needs to be upgraded to an all weather path. Playground equipment has not been replaced and collapsed culverts to a water course have not been replaced after 4 years with a temporary barrier. The Dore Village Society had planned to re-open this water course a few years ago to attract more wildlife, but was told this could not be done because of pollution by foul water, yet nothing has been done to repair the collapse and stop access to the water involved
19th May - Sheffield is being told by the Government to aim higher with its recycling targets from 18% to 20%. Many local authorities are now producing rates in line with the best in Europe, showing that recycling rates of 40% and even 50% are possible.
18th May - Local transport managers are urging Network Rail, which owns Dore station, to revive their proposals to add another platform, a footbridge and more parking spaces which had earlier been shelved due to estimated £10 million cost. Planning permission had been granted after discussions with Transpennine Express, which would be able to stop more trains at Dore.
16th May - The Planning & Highways Area Board yesterday approved the adoption of local proposals to restrict traffic from entering the top of Long Line instead of making Cross Lane one way and directing outbound traffic from Dore up Brickhouse Lane.
12 May - Controversy continues over proposed traffic changes for Cross Lane and Brickhouse Lane. Dore Village Society participated in the working group to study choices following widespread local opposition to plans earlier this year. Hundreds of local residents voiced concerns. Sheffield highways officers are sticking to their own proposals.
The next public meeting of the South West Area Panel takes place on Wednesday 10th May between 7.30pm and 9pm at Greystones Junior School, Tullibardine Road.

April 23rd - 75 children, accompanied by 58 adults and 4 dogs took part today, St George's Day, in a Dore Dragon Hunt. Successful hunters enjoyed a refreshing drink of Dragon's Blood, a Dragon Egg and a slice of St George's Birthday cake.

 
April 8th - more than 40 braved the April (hail & sleet) showers and strong winds to participate in the health walk across Blacka Moor, led by Park Rangers. We did enjoy some brief sunny periods and fairly clear views across the countryside around Dore.
April 7th - Developers withdraw controversial application for 89 houses and apartments on former King Ecgbert school land. Revised scheme expected in coming weeks.
April 2nd-The British Open Show Jumping Championships take place at the Hallam FM Arena, Broughton Lane this coming Thursday to Sunday.
April 1st - Ringinglow Fire Station closes for good this weekend. Sadly this is not an April Fool.
March 31st - Approval given by city councillors to stop right turns from Hathersage Road into Brickhouse Lane; motorists will have to use the junction of Cross Lane and Hathersage Road.
March 30th - Hathersage outdoor swimming pool reopens on Saturday. A chance to swim outdoors in warm water whatever the weather.

March 24th - The cost of sending first-class and second-class letters will rise by 2p on April 3, making the stamps 32p and 23p respectively. Now is a good time to buy a stock at the old prices. They will be on sale until the prices go up and you can use them whenever you want to, so that buying early will cut the cost of posting. The stamps can also be used to make up the value on higher-cost mail. From April 3 a first- class stamp bought earlier for 30p will "count" as 32p when used with other stamps on heavier items. In August a more radical change will happen when post will be priced by its size as well as by weight.
March 23rd - A new learning centre for schools and other groups is being developed at the National Trust's Longshaw Estate near Hathersage. Work on the traditional wooden ‘barn style' building is due to start next month.

March 22nd - The next Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinators meeting will be at Totley Rise Methodist Church Hall on 3rd May, starting at 7pm.
March 12 - Planning application for provision of a wind turbine on a 15 metre tower at Fern Glen Cottage, Hathersage Road
March 3 - Richard Caborn MP will be in Dore opening Sheffield's newest school building next week at King Ecgbert School. There is an opportunity for all to look round on Saturday 11 March 10am - 3pm.
February 27 - After 35 years on the present site on Little Common Lane consideration is being given to moving to a new site elsewhere in Sheffield with buildings more like a hotel than a hospital.
February 26 - Planning applications this week include proposal to erect a new house in the grounds of Four Oaks on Ashfurlong Road.
February 25 - On Wednesday night armed police arrested two men in a car at Millhouses in connection with a number of recent armed robberies in the area.

February 23 - Percy the boar at Whirlow Hall Farm Trust is looking for a new home because he’s just got too big. For the past 3 years Percy, who weighs in at over 200 kgs, has been charming all the school children who visit Whirlow Hall Farm but unfortunately his charms have become something of a trial to his lady loves. The Farm is now looking to find him a retirement home. If you can help please call 235 2678.
February 22 - The average cost of a children’s party is now nearly £200, with parents collectively spending £ 1.25 billion a year celebrating their offspring’s birthdays.
February 21 - Blundells are sponsoring the Dore Primary School Parents Association Ball on Friday March 3. The ball, which will include a meal, raffle and disco will take place at Whirlow Brook Hall. Blundells are providing the wine for the black-tie event and are paying for a magician to entertain over 100 guests. They have also helped produce the invitations, table plan and menus. Several other local businesses have also donated raffle prizes. Parents are hoping to raise more than £2,500 for children’s playground furniture including seating and picnic benches.
February 20th - The next full South west Area Panel meeting will be on Wednesday 15th March at St Luke's Church Lodge Moor, from 7.30 to 9pm.
February 18th - There will be a woodland event on 25th February at Whiteley Woods, featuring the felling of a mature beech tree, woodland craft demonstrations and charcoal burning display.
February 16th - There will be a special South West Area Panel Information Roadshow on 7th March at Sir Harold Jackson School Bradway.  This is a drop in event to meet councillors, and representatives from streetforce, the police, the library service, highways, planning and the health authority.

February 9th - The council has published the order prohhibiting right turns from Hathersage Road into Brickhouse Lane.
February 8 - The Dore Village Society would like to produce a calendar for 2007, featuring pictures of Dore through the seasons. We would like to use photographs taken by local people. So please get those cameras working and send in your efforts to the Society. In addition to the fame of having your picture selected and acknowledged, there will be free calendars for those submitting the best photographs. - As part of BBC TV's "Who Do You Think You Are" season, BBC Radio Sheffield are holding a Family and local History Fair on Saturday, 11th February at Rotherham Central Library. As well as a live broadcast from the BBC Bus there will be a chance to gain expert research tips and get a step-by-step guide to the resources and techniques of family history research. February 4 - Outline plans for the proposed 89 dwelling development on the old King Ecgbert School site (see 26 January below) will be on view in the DVS room at the Old School on Saturday 11th from 10.30 am to 12 noon as part of Councillor Hill's monthly surgery.
February 3 - Sweet smell of success? It has been announced that Onyx, the city's waste contractor, is being re-named Veolia Environmental Services.

February 1 - Despite recent extensive local coverage about a possible council prosecution and potential £20,000 fine following the removal of trees in Bushey Wood behind No 67 Devonshire Road, we have now been told of a further tree being felled behind No 85 Devonshire Road. All the trees in Bushey Wood are supposed to be protected by Tree preservation orders (TPOs)!
January 28 - Sheffield still lags behind most of the country by only recycling 17.14 % of household waste compared with 22.9 % for England as a whole.
January 27 - Ringinglow Fire Station is to be closed, following a decision this week by the South Yorkshire Fire Authority, and despite a 6,900 name protest petition.
26 January - A planning application has been lodged by Westbury Homes (now Persimmon Homes) to build 89 dwellings, including 9 affordable units, on the site of King Ecgbert Upper School, Furniss Avenue.
January 23 - The Sheffield Book Fair takes place this Saturday 28th January, 10am to 4pm at Owen Building, Sheffield Hallam University, Arundel Gate, Sheffield 1. January 21 - work is well advanced on the old Hinchcliffe site off Newfield Lane, with houses coming on the market shortly. The developer Westbury Homes was taken over this week by Persimmon Homes who will be dealing with sales.
January 20 ... The decision on the future of Ringinglow Fire Station, and whether it will be closed, will be taken at a meeting of the South Yorkshire Fire Authority next Wednesday 25 January. The meeting is open to the public and will be held at The Source, Meadowhall Way, adjacent to Meadowhall, starting at 10am.

Local residents are up in arms about proposed changes to the plans for the ‘Blue Ridge’ site on Ashfurlong Road and to the damage done to what was once a wildlife rich public verge, both by contractors laying new drainage pipes and the developer County Developments.

17 January - In response to overwhelming public opposition, the proposed one-way scheme for Cross Lane/Brickhouse Lane was deferred by the Planning Board yesterday, to allow Highways Officers to further consult Local Councillors and a proposed small group of local residents. In the meantime enhanced warning signs on Hathersage Road and improvements to the junction at Brickhouse Lane / Dore Moor Inn, including a ban on right hand turns into Brickhouse Lane by vehicles heading towards the City, were approved.
Three local representatives, who have been heavily involved from the outset and the Chairman of the Dore Village Society will join the working group. Next week Yorkshire Water's sub-contractors Watermark will be undertaking renewal work to their sewer line which runs underneath the bridleway from Limb Lane to Ryecroft Bridge, within Ecclesall Woods
This involves re-lining the pipeline - no excavation is necessary, but several over-hanging branches along the bridleway will be pruned back. Work should be completed by the end of January.

January 11 ...
Despite overwhelming objections locally, proposals to make Cross Lane one way, and to direct outbound traffic up Brickhouse Lane, are being recommended to the Council by Traffic Engineers on the 16th. The public may attend the meeting at 2pm - details from the Town Hall.
6 January ... Roadworks on Abbeydale Road
between Dobcroft Road and the Tesco Supermarket entrance are likely to cause disruption for up to 5 weeks

4 January
... Dore Moor inn has a new management team in the shape of Simon and Rachel Smith who took over at the end of November. They both have strong local links and Rachel's parents were landlords at the Hare & Hounds some 20 years ago. No major changes are planned at Dore Moor, apart from continuing to build on the success of their immediate predecessors.

3 January - Ashfurlong Road will be closed between Cavendish Road and Burlington Road for up to 4 weeks from 8th January, in order that new drainage pipes can be laid from the development at Blue Ridge.
1 January ... Dore residents have done exceptionally well in the New Year Honours list. Michael Vaughan, captain of the Ashes winning cricket team last summer, has been appointed OBE. Local councillor Anne Smith, leader of the Conservative Group on Sheffield Council, receives an MBE, Judith Jackson receives an MBE for services to young people and Beryl Seaman a CBE for services to the National Probation Service.
