Heritage Open Day: General Cemetery

General Cemetery 12noon – 4.00pm

Starts 12.15pm at The Gatehouse. A special exhibition at the Samuel Worth Chapel shows how Sheffield General Cemetery was saved with local people power. The Chapel will be open throughout the afternoon where there will be a café and an exhibition on plans presented by Sheffield City Council on improving the Cemetery site.

Restoring the Samuel Worth Chapel - 12.15pm - led by Andrew Whitham Find out on this guided walk how the Samuel Worth Chapel, which had lain derelict for many decades, was restored a few years ago to be the amazing community and event venue that it is today. The walk will be led by Andrew Whitham, who was involved in the early stages of the Chapel restoration and who is knowledgable about the Chapel and its context within the early Cemetery plans.
